NGC7424 - the "pretty" version

A combination of 15 hours of data from 2013 with my Ceravolo 300 and U16M at Astrofest and approx 13 hours of data from Martin Pugh's RH305 and STXL-16200. Processed in PixInsight, of course

NGC7424 is low surface brightness and quite a challenging target. I think this is a nice improvement over my 2013 version and 2015 repro. I'm looking forward to the 2019 version which should be really nice

Capture details:

+++++ Rick C300 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Taken at Astrofest, 2/3/4 August, 2013

Scope: Ceravolo C300 @ f/9 = 2760mm FL, Atlas focuser
Mount: AP900
Camera: U16M
Filters: Astrodon E series Gen 2 LRGB
Guiding: Lodestar / MMOAG
Image scale: 0.67 arcsec/pixel
Exposures: 20x600s R, 13x600s G, 17x600s B, 44x600s Lum (13.33 hours)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++

+++++ Martin Pugh RH305 +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Captured at Yass 16-26 Sep, 2017

Scope: Astro-Physics RH305 @ f/3.8 = 1119mm FL
Mount: Paramount ME II
Camera: SBIG STXL-16200M
Filters: Astrodon
Image scale: 1.106 arcsec/pixel
Exposures: 12x600s R, 12x600s G, 12x600s B, 12x1200s Lum, 10x1200s Ha binx2 (15 hours)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++

High res/larger field version is on Astrobin: http://www.astrobin.com/full/315203/0/

Thanks for looking. Constructive criticism is much appreciated.

Cheers,
Rick.

Wow, that's the nicest version of NGC7424 I've seen. Lovely.

Greg.

A different galaxy this one is with its well seperated spiral arms and angular appearance. Star colours look to have been managed carefully to provide just the right amount of saturation (always subjective of course). Nicely defined Ha regions. Thanks for sharing Rick.

The detail in the galaxy is perhaps looking just a liiiiitle bit dotty ...but it managed to slide under my Decon/Wavelettes radar ...otherwise a lovely looking colourful image of this galaxy Rick

I am assuming that arc on the right is form the out of field star..?

Mike

Ta, Mikey-Mike. I pushed the decon lever up nearly, but not quite, to the Sidonio limit

Yes, there is a big ugly star just out of field.

Thanks, Marcus. Having the luxury of nearly 30 hours of data certainly helps too.

Looks good Rick, reminds me a lot of my scant blue channel of NGC 300 Low surface brightness and spirally.

Thanks, Colin. It's a bit less fluffy than NGC 300 but there certainly are similarities.

The Sidonio Limit = when the application of decon and wavelettes doesn't exceed escape velocity...
