M45 - Attempt 01

Only 16 of 1 minute subs.

A large tree got in the way and took out the other 16 minutes.

Full credit to PHD for guiding through the branches...

Will take a chain saw next time :-)

Very nice Peter. Round stars across the field with some minor elongation in the corners. Captured the reflection nebulosity well. Some residual noise which will go with more subs and noise reduction techniques.

All in all a good image Have to watch those trees though

Same data - processed quite differently (PI)

PI has so many tools: MorphologicalTransformation, ATrousWaveletTransform, the list goes on.

I am now getting confused about what is real...

How do we decide the difference between over or under processed?

Stars look good and the nebulosity is showing up nicely.

I think the idea is to try to remove as much noise as possible without it getting too smooth or clumpy (over smoothed).
