It's stuck but good

Trying to remove the old dewshield on my FL102S so I can replace it with the new old-stock one that arrived, but no joy, even with a pair of boa straps on it. The objective cell wants to come off the OTA (which I don't want), but no way yhe dew shield wants to part company with the objective cell (and I am NOT pinching/squishing the tube or anything).

Ideas?

Apply some heat to the dew shield (a heat pack or something), and see if it will help to loosen it.

I had the same problem once on my small FS60. A few plain old rubber bands around the lens cell and tube did the trick.

You could also try and heat the dew shield near the lens cell (using a dew heating strap or something) to increase its diameter slightly - after letting the scope cool down for a while outside and making sure the lens cell stays as cool as possible relative to the dew shield.

Otherwise I'm afraid you will have to sell it.

Heat and wd-40 might do the trick then maybe stick the end of the dew sheild in some boiling water should draw enough heat up to release it
