Pic du Midi

Cousins out on a ski trek sent me some photos from the Pic du midi and La Mongie last Friday. Still plenty of snow.

Lovely photos Marc.

There is a brown tinge to the snow in certain patches - is this airborne dust settling, or maybe the camera exposure meter trying to render the white snow as mid-grey?

Cheers

Dennis

Plenty of snow and spectacular photos. The skis are organised along the rock strata there.

Does not look like the chair is running. A lot of ski holidays cancelled I think but still snow on the ground all over the country last week I have heard.

Yeah there's nothing quite like it. Just got to watch out for burried wired fences.

The only thing we're missing in Oz: altitude. But the skies quality and variety here make up for it in spades IMHO. The Northern hemisphere is pretty boring in comparison.

Good day Dennis, I was thinking about you this morning and wondering what you've been up to. I guess not much imaging with all the rain and heatwaves up north? There's been a bit of sand dumped on the Pyrenees in Feb due to sand and dust storms in the Sahara desert that blew North over Spain and even reached Southern France. I remember one as a kid in the 70s that left a light red dusting on outdoor furniture at my grand father's place but nothing like this one.

Yes the sky stations are not operating because of COVID restrictions but the locals can still go if they want to walk up instead of using the lift chairs.

Wow - thanks Marc, that looks surreal with all the sand particles intermingling with the snow, really quite weird!

Cheers
