Light Boxes

I have just recently completed building myself a couple of light boxes and I am very pleased with the results. If anyone is interested in me building one for them, PM me and I can discuss price etc, one thing is for sure, they are going to be at least a third of the price of imported ones, and IMHO work just as well. The two attached images will give you some sort of idea of my construction. My method of construction allowes the light box to fit over the front of the telescope/dew shield, much like a cover so one does not need to balance it on the scope.
I use a 12v lighter type connector for the power, and each LED is rated at between 6000mcd and 12000mcd depending on the size of the box required.
If interested please feel free to ask any questions.

I'd just like to put a good word in for Peter's lightboxes.

They are beautifully constructed, weigh nothing, but, are rigid and strong.

He made one for my FSQ-106N. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to use it, yet. But, if it works as good as it looks, it'll be a ripper!

If I ever get another scope, I'll be coming back for more.

Thanks, Peter.

H

I have a lightbox built for a FSQ106ED. It was built for a guy here who has not picked it up. I have lost his contact details, so I will put it up for sale at the same price $140.00 plus postage if outside Adelaide.
I have not heard from the guy for about 6 months, so he has either left the planet or does not want the box any more.

Cheers

Peter

The light box for a FSQ106ED is still available for anyone interested. It has been sitting on my bench now for several months, the guy I made it for seems to have done a runner.

I am still making them for anyone interested. I limit size to 10" outside Adelaide as freight becomes a big issue above 10", couriers tend to be a huge ripoff.

I seen these at Snake Valley camp in November they look awsome Pete (but i had a bit of a blonde moment) which made Douggie and Darren laugh i thought they were called light boxes because they were light/not heavy
Until i seen a little light switch on them arrh a light box

Just received my version for my 8" dob. Packing was excellent, no damage at all.
Looks extremely well made, was heading out to give it a test but the boss showed up and dragged me off to a meeting

Will try tonight

cheers
Mark

I've just recently picked up one from Peter with adjustable brightness. Beautifully made, very compact and light and works well. I'd highly recommend them. Unfortunately I've just bought a new scope so will need to sell it and order another.

Just for info, as Graeme mentioned, I can now fit a dimmer on new light boxes for those that have issues with CCD camera exposure times and flats..

Stuart (Beren), I can't send you any more emails as your inbox is full mate, I have the banking details you need for the light box you ordered.

Cheers

Peter
