cleaning 350D sensor????

Did a flat field at the weekend and it shows up some horrible dust marks on the sensor.
What do you recommend for cleaning the sensor. Seen the google hits on cleaning methods but what's the local cleaning kit you recommend.

Camera House stores have cleaning kits for around $150 ... not sure of the brand ... was asking about them today.

They also had this kit that I was just looking at before I read your thread.

$150? Wow.

Have you tried just a rocket blower/blower brush? That will remove most easy to move particles.

For more stubborn dust you could try a q-tip dripped in demineralised water? I know there are other commercial solutions but I haven't tried them.

I don't sell 'em Mike ... just giving Merlin ideas. When you say demineralised do you mean distilled ?

I think it's the same (or similar), depending on where you buy it. In coles I think it's called demineralised.

Tried the blower brush... didn't do much good just seemed to redistribute the crap.
Found Green Clean wet and dry swabs, 15mm wide in Michaels; you get 3 sets for $30...

do a search on other threads - look at sensor brush! Fully recommend it

The best and cheapest is to use a Qtip and 70% isopropanol to lightly clean the sensor. Only wipe gently in a single direction, rotating the tip as you go. Use a freash tip for each passage and do a new light frame at the end. This can help locate any stubborn material.

I think Allan's idea is probably the cheapest and the best!!
However, the Green Clean kit worked 100%.
A couple of observations:
Need a really bright light (or grazing bright sunlight) to check the sensor
Check the battery is 100% OK, or use the AC power adaptor
other than that a very straight forward job. No dust bunnys now!!!!!!!!!

Don't touch it, just get the blower on it, or get it professionally done, once you wreck it, your warranty is buggered, and if it is not under warranty anymore then it will cost you a new camera, let the pros do it.

I like my Arctic Butterfly, does a treat on all my chips, thought the smaller ones in restricted openings are a bit of a challenge at times
