Royal Greenwich International Astro Photo of the Year 2019

Nice to see several Aussie imagers on this year's shortlist!
Must say I'm delighted to have the cover story image

Pretty sure I saw IIS regulars Steve Mohr, Suavi Lipinski, Eddie Trimarchi & Martin Pugh's images there as well

Congratulations Andy - fantastic image and a well deserved recognition. It is great to have so many shortlisted images from Australia. I didn’t really expect to have any of my images being noticed by the judges.

Indeed, making the cut at Greenwich is very cool.

Well done to all the Aussie contingent who seem to be punching to well above their weight when it comes to Astro-imaging

Just need to point out that the article is not quite correct- this is only a partial list of all the shortlisted images. The Royal Greenwich team is holding a number of unpublished shortlisted images back until September. 😊

Curiously, many of the first placed images from the 2018 comp were not used from the shortlist set that was given to media groups....my understanding was they were not "held back"....the entire list was available to
the media...but what/why they chose to include images in their press releases was up to the picture editors involved.

BTW I had to withdraw an entry from the CWAS/Malins, as the Greenwich organisers emailed me stating: if it did well and received mainstream media coverage in OZ, it would be disqualified.

Yes, same here- strange isn’t it - I couldn’t enter my Malin HC from last year, but on the other hand they’ll happily accept published Apods which were seen by millions oh well, it’s their sandpit & their rules
