Nice, but...
It will mildew... and it2 would be to use a balanced cantilever which supports the binos and moves freely up & down.
Here's an example I made long ago... carrying a 4" SCT on a wheelchair. In this example the cantilever is made from strips of tassie oak and the counterweight salvaged from an old EQ mount. The scope is supported on a home-made altaz mount, the altitude bearing being two ex-Ikea lazy-suzans and the azimuth fabricated from a bicycle front-wheel shaft. The supporting cradle is made from four L-shaped laminated shelf brackets also ex-Ikea.
From using it I'd say it would be possible to use upto an 8" SCT this way.
If you can find an electric wheelchair even better as this provides electric azimuth slewing
