Tarantula - my first NB play

It’s been a while between drinks for me as I’ve spent a fair bit of time rebuilding and fine tuning this setup.
After a mount hyper tune (EQ6-R), new mono cam (asi1600 pro), filters and a 0.8 flattened/reducer here’s my first foray into mono imaging.
With high cloud thin cloud and plenty of moon I managed to pull off 5 x 10min subs at 200 gain......amazingly (for me) the mount tracked well and for the entire time it didn’t go over a total 0.8 rms error [14kg on mount).

Still need to spend some more time working out ideal sub lengths and on the processing but all in all I’m pretty happy with the outcome and look forward to sinking my teeth into a colour pic and some more narrowband in the near future.

Feedback welcome

Outstanding details and image but the dynamic range is too flat.

Cheers Marc.

Re the dynamic range....bias adu too high (around 320), not enough signal (background adu was around 820) or would you suggest its a processing issue attributed to me?

....I had another play with the processing after Marc’s comment.

Little better now....I think

Just meant the faint bits and the bright core have the same luminosity so it looks a bit flat. The core is much brighter than the surroundings.

Thanks Marc.....maybe I exposed a a little long on this one which made me lose that range

It wasn’t over exposed when I went over it checking adu values......must be my processing

Yes very likely processing induced like a HDR process. Have a look at your original histogram and try stay close to the linear file.
