M42

After a month of cloud I got a clear-ish evening last night and set up the gear for a fix. This is just 10x5 minutes with the Sharpstar - can't wait to have a proper go at those Orion targets.

Very nice Tony...

I need M42 to keep more 'gentlemanly' hours, then I will endeavour to turn my attention to it...

Tony
Nice to see some early M42 images , plenty of detail and great colours
Bit low for me now plus waiting for a clear night , still lots of smoke haze around Sydney
Well done !!

Thanks guys. I've been free to image almost every night for the last month but opportunities are rare so I didn't mind staying up until mid morning to catch Orion. Even this night was partly cloudy which is why there's only 50 minutes of subs.

I used the IDAS D2 Nik and experimented with Exponential Transform in PI to bring out the fainter nebulosity surrounding M42. In the second image I used HDR Multiscale Transform to tone down the core, though I don't mind the glowing/blown out core anyway.

I will try the L-Enhance when I can.
