These giant 100mm binoculars on a mount with 5 directions of movement allow comfortable viewing at 25x magnification; from reclining, sitting, or standing positions.
The binoculars, from Kunming Optical Company, are fully multicoated, and have a wide true field of view (2.5 degrees) which facilitates scanning of of sky regions and viewing of extended objects like open clusters and nebulae. They have long eye relief (18mm), providing comfortable viewing over extended periods. They have a post which slides along a centre rail to adjust the balance point of the binoculars, and individual focus adjustment for each eyepiece.
The binoculars are in excellent condition with no visible marks or deterioration.
At almost 5kg, the binoculars are too heavy to hold steadily by hand, so a mount is essential. This pipe mount allows you to move the binoculars smoothly around five axes of rotation, bringing the binoculars to your eye to view new objects, rather than moving your eye and face to the binoculars as in other kinds of mounts.
Rebranded versions of these binoculars are sold under several names including Andrews and Orion. At Amazon Australia the Orion 9326 Giant View 25x100 Astronomy Binoculars are advertised at $621 plus $84 delivery.
Asking price for the binoculars with protective hard case, and the pipe mount, is now $300.
