Cloud Free Night off line

Cloud free night ( CFN) has been off line since Saturday
A message reads their not receiving Australian meteorological data ( Access model ) only American GFS model data
GFS is not reliable or accurate enough for local regional forecasting so basically it’s get out there hope the clouds stay away. I’ve used other forecast apps like skippy sky but CFN has been excellent !!
It’s not until something like this happens that you realise how dependent you are on reliable weather forecasting especially if your a long exposure Astrophotographer and require at least 4 to 6 hours during a night to capture your data
Hopefully CFN Access will be back on line soon

Comments welcome !!

*** LATEST NEWS *** CFN website updated!!! All ACCESS model forecast maps and meteograms are currently unavailable. The latest GFS model forecasts for the next seven days are still available. Unable to download any ACCESS (city, regional or global) model data from the Bureau of Meteorology. Unknown when upgraded ACCESS model data will be made available. There are alternative forecasts (Yr, meteoblue, Clear Outside) for meteogram locations available from links on the Meteogram page"

You can try fishranger as an interim . It uses the AFDF data sets produced by the BoM and has cloud coverage that is accurate.

Here's an example for my location: https://www.fishranger.com.au/foreca...ation/Prestons

Another good one using the ADFD set is ozforecast with more locations than Fish Ranger

https://ozforecast.com.au/cgi-bin/we...lley.NSW&radar
Specific day cloud coverage: https://ozforecast.com.au/cgi-bin/we...&time=20200930

Unfortunately most of the others including SkippySky still use the old GFS model.

Ozforecast uses a "high res" local BoM model so cloud forecast is good enough. BoM meteye is good for wind and jetstream. Some of it uses ACCESS.
