&, you do not need a full aperture (10"/12"), solar filter.
If you make up a cover for the t'scope & cut a 80 mm or so diameter hole in it,
offset it from the centre to clear the spider vanes, you can buy a smaller, cheaper solar filter or solar film.
Make up a holder for it & you're done.
Just tape it securely over the hole.
Oh yes.....& don't forget to block/cover the finder scope.
I made one for my 10" dob (when I still had it), & used the same aperture stop
procedure for splitting close doubles etc.
