This might not appear relevant here, But thinking out of the box, look how they fixed this to the ground. A modification of this idea, might make an excellent pier for your back yard.
Yes but cows rubbing on it would jiggle your scope.
Did something similar for the cat by fixing four scrubbing brushes to a pole and he loves it.
I think it probably would work rather well for a pier.
