CCD Camera's from OZ SPY

I am also looking around for a good webcam...I know alot say the Toucam gives great results.....I agree with that opinion....for me though I like to do my homework and stride a bit further and ask is their better....surely a webcam with higher rez and more lines with much better image quality should produce a better image.....

I dont know exactly what is needed to help produce a good final picture but check this out....OZ Spy is just around the corner from my place, so I went for a look and a chat and this is what he recommends...a Bullet cam.....much higher quality then any web cam on the market.....obviously you need other accessories ontop of the cost of the cam....

OZ SPY Camera

I would like your opinion.

Does the front end screw off so you can attach an 1 1/4 inch adapter? Plus its a heap more expensive than the ToUcam. Also is its resolution as good as the ToUcam. Its lowest shutter speed might be a bit fast too. I'm by no means an expert on these things, just comparing to the ToUcam.

Not sure how many lines the Toucam has but I thinks its about 120 or 150 lines...where these have around 400 lines...I sure you can unscrew the end and attach an adapter.....I will still look into the specs....you can get cheaper version's of ebay....

Hi Striker,
I'd be very keen to hear how you get on with this camera!
I notice the sensitivity to light is 1Lux which from memory is the same as the ToUCam.. Very nice!
Only issue I see is the shutter only goes up to 1/50s where the ToUCam is 1/25. Should be fine for planets & moon though and perhaps even autoguiding. Good luck! and keep us posted.

Don't you know Tony that the rain is a gift from the Gods of Astronomy so you can spend more time cuddling and bonding with you telescope first so you don't take it for granted when you finally get clear skies.

I might be wrong but I don't believe these cameras have manually adjustable shutter or gain. Add to that the output is analogue video with associated artifacts.

It is essential for the shutter and gain to have manual adjustment for astronomy use. Otherwise they are limited to daylight pics.

From what I've seen those toucams are hard to beat.
