Orion in Hydrogen Alpha

I managed 3 hours on Orion Saturday morning before sunrise as the West was getting cloudy while on the Helix. TBH imaging M42 after a marathon on the Helix felt like a mars bar at the end of a weekly regimen of brocolli...finally some photons coming in easy.

Big one here: [2489 x 1862 - 1.34MB]
HD: [1920x1436 - 848KB]

Processed in CCD Stack, Prometheus, Goodlook, Startools and PS CS6.

Enjoy the view.

Thanks Colin. No, unlikely. M42 looks a little weird in SHO. Bicolor HaOiii would be nice but I kind of like doing mono Ha, just plain b&w. This from home. RGB is impossible and when I go to a dark site I'd rather do colour.

Nice. Definitely something to be said for a detailed monochrome Ha image.

There is a great deal of very smooth and sharp data here Marc. Beautifully acquired and processed with great restraint.
