Stunning result Mike!
Looks at least as good as an IC4592 APOD I just looked at.

Nice detail, colour, depth etc etc, just what we’d expect from you. However, I think the orientation could be better. It looks more like a dog howling at the moon than a horse. I think you could make a better look by rotating 90deg counterclockwise, so the head points down in the usual horsie fashion.

Mike was this image native FL, or did you use the reducer?

If reducer, which one? (there are 3 reducers for the FSQ 106ED family - I have the QE0.73 for my EDXIII)

Thanks Geoff and yes I did try rotating it, for the reason you say...but for me the stallion lifting his head up did it for me and seemed more dramatic

No reducer used, it was taken at the native F5 which gives me a 4deg X 4deg FOV.

I would indeed like a reducer but the one to suit my big 52mm diagonal 16803 chip would be the 645 reducer... which is around AU$3000 ...not sure it would be really worth it ...but would be nice to have of course

No you should be able to use the cheaper reducer and it works fine with a Proline 16803:

Whether or not you want to image at around 330mm though is another question. I'd say it has limited usefulness.

Greg.

Hmm?...I was lead to believe that only the 645 would cover the 52mm circle properly (of course and then some), I was sure the other only covered 42mm..?

...what and disrupt my currently flawlessly operating system, rebalance, new flats etc

I'm scared of change, re balancing, new flats etc ...maybe I need another FSQ and PL16803, to use with the reducer, mounted along side the current one..so I can just switch between all three rigs would that cost much

Mike

Tak may be conservative with their numbers unlike many manufacturers who no doubt exaggerate.
