No but its interesting, looking at the websites there you can get a 20" f4.2 Hubble landed at your door for roughly the same price as the new skywatcher 18" f 4.

I investigated some time back. A couple of custom mirror manufacturers advised that Hubble don't give detailed info on their optics and some have significant flaws, turned edges etc. Don't know if it was fact and, if so, whether its been corrected but would be worth the ask.

One of the guys who has been at Snake Valley has a HO 16" I think. He hasn't brought it with him so I haven't actually seen it. He seemed happy with it it but am not sure if he has done any testing on the optics.
I have read a review on CN that was mostly favourable of the structure but it did need some minor mods I think to make the movement a little firmer from memory.

I have purchased 3 of Hubble Optics 14" primary sandwich mirrors. One was fair, but the other two are good/very good. The one I have in my current 14" dob is a much better optic than that I had in a 12" Skywatcher Collapsible dob.

Hi Geoff , there is a good 3 page review of Hubble Optics ULF18 inch f4.5 in the 'Astronomy Technology Today' the January/February 2014 issue .
If you google them it is a good online astronomy mag .
Looks like a very nice set up . .

Hi again Geoff , I see in your Sig that you have a Galaxy 18inch mirror , is this a mirror on its own ? if so have you given any thought to a 'Gondwana' telescope made by Alexander Massey from here on IIS ? He will make a sweet hand made scope around any mirror size above about 12 inches ? I think .
Just a thought mate .
