What? Why?

In fact pretty well every railway sign for train drivers is a mystery to most not in the know, but what does a big yellow W mean?
I think that the "W" sign may be instructing the driver to pull or blow the “Whistle” as a warning?

Cheers

Dennis

I think you're right Dennis. I posted it on Facebook and got more info than I really needed on railway signs.

I wonder; Now that the picture is demystified does it still meet the theme?

Perhaps the next picture will have something to do with 'Mystery" OR "Graffiti"

Trevor

A mysterious light shines beyond illuminating the soul within every photographer .. or something like that

next photo should contain Horizons

Not sure if this fulfills the brief of Horizons (the plural), but here is one horizon, a very bleak horizon in Norway.

The next image should have something Ancient

Great catch Hugh. The blue sky and dark clouds all come together on the horizon with the boats wake. Good shot.

Hole in the wall

A few years ago, I went for a medical conference to Dubai, landed and spent the first day listening to such rivetting monologues that it awakened the travel bug within. so promptly I packed my bags and took of to Jordan for a few days where I found this hole in the wall albeit a very "ancient" one :-)
I did come back to attend the last day of the conference though but had no trouble sleeping midway through it as I was now tired and... bored as hell..

Lol! Oh yes of course. I think the next photo should have something "momentous" - capturing a freeze frame of action (verb) in happening to be precise :-)

Okay – here is a momentous, freeze-frame, action shot of a Blue Banded Bee in flight!

The next photo will have something to do with “big aeroplanes”.

Cheers

Maybe this might meet capturing a freeze frame of action.

Leon.

How about we have the next photo with Rust in it

Interesting building Win.

I was wondering what an Australian resident would find to represent Ancient since anything of European origin here as just passing Vintage status

Going to Rust

A lovely piece of engineering that's outlived it's usefulness. It's only job now is to sit and Rust.
So I think the next photo should have something to do with Outdated Industry.

Here's one of the old machine shops on Cockatoo Island.

For some contrast the next photo should have something to do with Modern Industry.

modern industry

This here is part of the heating system of a hot house.
It directs the hot water to different sections of the house
These are fed by a 100,000lt buffer tank (has weird acoustics when empty) and there's two boilers heating it a gas one and a sawdust fired one for Co2

The next new photo should have 'edge' in it don't matter what kind

Have fun

David
