Horsehead Re Process in Startools V1.6

The weather has been abysmal lately along the east coast and the forecasters are predicting a similar weather pattern ( La Niña ) until April so spending a bit of time on re processing previous captures
Here’s a reprocess of the Horsehead captured a couple of weeks ago
Scope 8” f5 Bintel GSO newt
Mount EQ6-R pro
Imaging camera ZWOASI2600MC
Ascom controlled set to Highest Dynamic Range ( Gain 0 )
Cooled to -12C
Filter ZWO 2” Duoband
30 x 180sec dithered guided subs
15 x darks
Stacked in DSS
Reprocessed in Startools V1.6
Used a Narrowband Wipe
Increased Contrast
Increased Sharpening
Used Life module Less More and Isolate to enhance details
Colour Artistic Aware and RGB ratio
De noise grain removal at 5.5 pixels
Image Cropped

Comments welcome !

Thanks

Peter
Very observant
I tried to mask the diffraction spike from Alnitak using Shrink and Colour modules but you can still see it
Thinks you have to accept when imaging with a newt
Thanks anyway for the comment
How’s your Obs going ?
My NexDome is another 2 weeks away, so won’t be setting it up until late Feb / early March , doesn’t worry me too much, it’s been 8 months getting it here from Canada plus the weathers crap anyway for the next month
Cheers
Martin

Excellent close up. Stars are really well handled including Alnitak.

All finished mate. So far I have been encouraged by how well it keeps out the rain...

Thanks Marc
I seem to always squeeze a little bit more out of images using the 2600MC and Startools ( it’s not unless you crop, change resolution and get in close you see the level of quality in your images , in particular the stars )
With the old DSLR it was a case of hiding or suppressing the noise rather than exposing more detail
Thanks again

Too right. You look after your star profiles and you're assured everything else in your pic is alright. If you remove them and try to sharpen the neb separately then you're shooting yourself in the foot because the distortion or drift in your stars is already present in the neb. It's pretty straight forward once you understand that.
