Focuser for RC6

Just received my GSO RC6 and tak collimating scope from 2 members of IIS, much appreciated!

my question is, I want to upgrade from the standard focuser.

Any idea of what to go for that won't completely break my bank?

cheers

Moonlite seems to be the most popular choice. Not sure about not breaking the bank though...

Hi Jsmitt

I replaced my GSO RC6 focuser a few months ago.

I ordered this https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop...elescopes.html

So far I really like it and it isn't as expensive as some other brands. If you upgrade to a RC8 at somepoint, It will also fit it.

Hello Jacob.
The RC6 I used to have had the 2" Moonlite and a hi-res stepper motor and it worked very well. You can lose the hi res stepper if you manually focus and just get the tri knob configuration. $468 AUD plus delivery from moonlite.

That one from TS that benklerk suggested looks good also. About 440 AUD delivered.

Do i need the controller also? or does the stepper motor work directly with ASCOM?

You need a controller also, I forgot about that.

I used to use mine with a sharpsky pro that I already had.....

Getting a hi res stepper and a controller will bump the price up significantly.

There are other controller options out there though that will work with the moonlite hi res stepper
