Got the Witch, but yukky pic

25x 45secs, same lens and settings as LMC pics. This is pretty awful, don't
know whether it is my poor basic processing, or whether it just needs longer subs, or sky not dark enough, Bortle 3-4.

Awful, I think not. Its a nice image with some good data, I have heard it is a tricky one. I may try this one myself with the SN10.
A large amount of the dark sky has blue. Looking at some other images, ones with data around 30 minutes are like this maybe be due to stretching the data to see the face. Images with couple of hours or more seem to be blacker in the dark sky, maybe less stretching required. Only an observation I an no expert in processing but I like to collect data
Also not sure but possibly a little out of focus or minor star trails.

This certainly is not an image I would label as awful, I have done much worse on simpler targets

Thankyou both. I will have to try and get longer/more subs, and see if that helps.

You're quite right Alex, just a matter of waiting for the weather and/or the moon.

This is a very faint object, but not a bad result yet. More Subs and/or longer exposure per sub.

It’s showing up quite nicely raymo but I think the problem you’re running into is potentially sky brightness and lack of aperture but mostly integration. If you put another 200x45s subs into it it will show up a lot better.

DSS will make your computer unhappy but it will make raymo happier

Well done Raymo, I knew you could do it! She's not easy target to reveal so I bet you were happy to see her profile appear.

Thanks everyone.
Michael, I was going to have a look at the nice witch you posted recently
to see what gear and settings you used, but unfortunately it is now gone.

Hi Raymo,

After reading that you'd got the witch I decided to give it a go myself last night. 2 1/2 hrs of subs revealed absolutely nothing I plate solved my image today to make sure I'd hit the target and although slightly low, it was in frame.

Any suggestions ? I noticed you had the same issue prior to this effort.

Nice capture, well done.

Hi Ryan, I can't suggest anything off the top of my head without knowing
how your acquisition gear and settings compared to mine, and how dark your site is. If your subs are too short, and/or the lens aperture is set too small,
no amount of subs will show anything. My sky is Bortle 3 to 4, and settings
were 100mm lens @f/2 and ISO 1600, 25x45 secs, so the fastish lens and highish ISO would have increased my chances of capturing it. Now I have captured it, lots more subs would make it more obvious.

Thank you Raymo. Now I know your settings I can work out why mine didn't show anything. Too short subs on the same ISO on the F/5 skywatcher in the same Bertole sky. Comparatively speaking I'm getting about an 1/8th of your data. Back to the drawing board with that one then.

Thank you
