Red puddy cat and a Gemini

I live in hope.
Today I managed to get my laptop to connect to my g11 mount Gemini 2. For the life of me I couldn't get the crossover cat5 cable to work, couldn't get the setup right. However I finally used a USB cable, why didn't I do that first. Managed to get that working and moving the mount about. It was pointing the puddy cat51 all over the place.

The other win I had was getting the zwo asi camera to the right distance for the focal plane. Now I just need to get it tested. But still cloudy....

The other thing I need to set up is plate solving. Will be using apt for camera capture and from memory Anthony set up every thing on my other laptop at astrofest last year. So maybe a small clue to get me going the right way...

Dave, have a look at the APT guide on setting up Plate Solving...

https://www.astrophotography.app/use...te_solving.htm

I only use the PlateSolve 2, so there’s only the executable and one zip file for the database to download and install.

Then just ensure you’ve set your focal length correctly in the Tools tab.

Platesolving? Have you heard of our loard and saviour ASTAP? Its solves so much faster than PS2 ever did, it can used as a drop in replacement for PS2 or used natively and even quicker with programs such as NINA.

Take it easy on him...

Thanks Peter, alas that was true, but between you and Anthony I was dragged kicking and screaming off the cliff.

Dave, the great news is, just when you feel comfortable with EQMOD, you can now look forward to learning Green Swamp Server.
