My new (old) SV66ED

The FedEx man dropped off my CPO (certified pre-owned) SV66ED today.

CPO scopes are refurbished by Stellarvue when owners trade them in, and are sold with the full 2-year warranty.

I sold my William Optics ZS66SD last week in favour of this scope, basically because I'd wanted the red model for a long time. I figured I may never see another one for sale, and I hope to pass it on to my daughter.

Did a quick optical test by viewing the trees and buildings I can see from my balcony and the views were very sharp as expected. Sydney's weather forecast suggests it will be some days before it sees starlight.

The balance point of this scope is a bit different from the ZS66SD and so it balances much better on my camera tripod when aimed up at the sky. This is an unexpected bonus.

A few pics attached with its larger sibling, the SV80ED.

Couple of very small chips in the paint on the dew shield that they told me about before I bought it, but barely noticeable. Very happy.

Thanks, Brian.

That should be my last scope purchase for quite some time. Eyepieces, on the other hand...
