NGC5101, NGC5078 and friends. Two galaxies far, far away (about 90 million light years) in the constellation of Hydra. There are numerous other galaxies in the background also.
GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, 494 x 30 seconds unguided, Full spectrum Canon1100D, Baader MPCC MKIII, HEQ5 Pro.
Had to image this after seeing Lee's excellent image. APS-C view is a lot wider!
Very nice Kevin,
you've pulled mag 12 galaxies out by dividing the noise by 22
with a tremendous 494 subframes,
& to do that with no guiding & a DSLR is amazing.
An excellent image Kevin! It is still only four hours of exposure so it's not much but you've captured them really well!
I'd love to see what you could do with 20 hours
20 Hours is half my imaging for the year! I know, I'd like to do those sort of times also, but not in Mackay. I would only get a couple of pics a year.
Looking good Kevin! A much wider field that with my tiny sensor. One suggestion for improvement is that the field looks a bit vignetted. I'm not sure what you're using for processing, but if you use PixInsight you could look into the DynamicBackgroundExtraction process to help with that.

Thanks Lee. Ah yes I see the vignetting now. I usually correct that in PS (don't have PI). Must not have had enough hours sleep when doing it.
