Jupiter Clouds and Chukchi Sea

I find it amazing that two areas so far apart and vastly different in sizes and composition still show the same patterns.

Left is Jupiter's surface and right phytoplankton blooms in the Chukchi Sea near Alaska.

Not really Jupiter's 'surface' - top of clouds.
But your observation is a good one - probably some common mechanism involving fluid dynamics (not that I know anything about that!)

Definitely looks a lot like the interaction of a number of "Karman Vortex Streets" (a repeating pattern of swirling vortices in the downstream flow past a "blunt body").

Planetary sharks that fly around in them 'space-probe eating clouds' might be a problem whilst surfing the Jupturnian swells, Mark

Yes they're similar and beautiful
Probably because they share some similar governing principles in Fluid Mechanics and mixing.

Best
