Meteorite Hits Nicaragua

No joke, this is the real thing.

Unbelieveable it missed all the built up areas and just hit a forest area near the airport.

Don't you hate it though when you are out on the observing field and
suddenly there are these "oohs" and "ahhs" coming from everyone else
in awe of them seeing some bright bolide that you missed because
you were either looking through an eyepiece or had your back turned.

This one would get your attention though.

ETEORITE SKEPTICISM: Reports are circulating of a meteorite strike in Nicaragua on Sunday, Sept. 7th. Because the timing coincides with the flyby of asteroid 2014 RC, some reporters have suggested a link. We are skeptical. The crater outside Managua looks more like it was dug by a backhoe than excavated by a high-energy meteoritic explosion. Also, no streak of light corresponding to a meteor was actually observed. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.........Spaceweather

Interesting ....
I guess if it was an impact crater it would've made big news by now of the confirmation.
Thanks Ron.
