Gem of a Crescent

Since I lost my astro mojo, I've taken up fossicking.
This crescent of gems is the result of 2 days sieving the sands of the Weld River in Tassie.
I found mainly sapphires as well as a sprinkling of topaz and zircon. The largest sapphire is 6.2ct.

Very cool finds Jeanette.
I see these all the time, and on shorelines near river-mouths where there is a lot of stone too.
It's a bit exciting finding the pretties.
PS hope you're enjoying your Tassie trip. I came in 1980 to visit my bro, and never returned to NSW for 17 years
