Yes that's the one I saw released about 3 months ago.

That is one hot sensor.

Greg.

Peter,
They haven't sold any yet as its just been released and also no pricing is available at the moment. The people on CN are saying the sensor alone costs $5K so you can add another $2-3K on top for the rest of support electronics.
Pricing is to be announced at the NEAF exhibition on Apr 6th.

Hmmm.. ASI1600s for much less (same pixel size, but 1/4 The area)., just shoot a 4 panel mosaic with a 1600. I know there are other uses/issues but where is the market for that camera?

I've got the ASI1600 and within reason, it's good, but microlensing is very annoying, and you get no benefit from hardware binning.

If it does actually do real hardware binning, at say 2x2, you would get an effective pixel size of 7.52um. That would be nice to have on some larger scopes, right? Or do I misunderstand things here?

ZWO ASI 6200 to be released

ZWO are also making a full frame camera with the same IMX455AQR BSI sensor.
Good to see the two Chinese juggernauts keeping each other honest.

P.S. What you say is correct Chris, you would get an effective pixel size of 7.52um.

But who knows, maybe FSQ could well-handle these new sensors all the way to the corners?

On top of that, I totally agree with what have already been said, the cost would certainly put to a test most home-budgets and consequently relationships...
TOA150 in combo with Tak #67 flattener has a 90mm imaging circle. How would that fare? http://www.takahashi-europe.com/en/T...ifications.php

If you click on the link “Optics” on the left hand side, it shows you example spots sizes for different optical configurations.
