Yeah cooling is a game changer you should see the standard deviation change noticeably with the cooler going.

Not sure about up there in the tropics Kevin, but down here on a summer night I can still get my 1600 down to -10. I settled on that as my usual imaging temperature for exactly that reason

-10 sounds good. If I can get it from +30 to -10 in the daytime I'll have no problem at night. It was fast to reach target temp too. Maybe cooling the smaller chip is speedy.

First light tonight clouds permitting.

Well it's all very exciting. I have my first "dark" frame haha! Now I just have to find the TEC cooler button in ASICAP.
Forget ASICAP, get Sharppcap, it's the bees knees for the ZWO cameras. Free but with some nice add-ons for a small fee.

I've been using SharpCap for video and ASICap for stills. I really like ASICap.

Just my 2c.....
I use Torsten's Firecapture with both my ZWO ASI 174 and 1600 cameras. Works well for me.

For deep sky, I use Sequence Generator Pro...largely automates my imaging night and I can walk away and sleep/bug visual folk at star parties

I hear SGP is good for set and forget. I'm more hands on at this stage.
