Beta Monocerotis Sketch 18/12/10

Hi everyone,

It was fairly cloudy during the day and windy but it then cleared up for a beautiful clear night with no wind.

Because the moon is almost full I decided to look at the double star Beta moncerotis which is a beautifull triple star system. It was so eye capturing I decided to make a sketch(attached is digitized sketch). At first at 150x magnification it seemed only to be a double star but popping in the 2x Barlow making it 300x magnification I saw the eastern star split into 2 the eastern stars were of light blue colour but the western star seemed to be yellow but with a blue glow around it.

With moon being so bright I only looked at some other objects already observed so no other new objects other than beta monocerotis.

Cheers Orestis

A great sketch Orestis and what a good way to make use of a moonlit sky!
