Saw Uranus

I know this isn't very exciting for the you all here, but it is for me it is. Last night just about to pack up, I though that I'd have what solar system objects were around Mars had just set, the next one to come up on my controller was Uranus so pushed the button let the telescope slew and there was Uranus in the eyepiece, maybe. So increased the magnification and a little disc appeared, Uranus! The very first time I'd knowingly seen it!

Congratulations! What sort of telescope did you use? Did you see the planet's colour?

Cheers
Steffen.

It's always good to get a view of the outer planets visually Simon.

I still get a buzz when I see them.

With a rare (at the moment) break in the clouds I was also able to bag Uranus last night. I was surprised at how easy it was to find - compared to Neptune back in August. I was able to see it as suspiciously non-stellar at 50x and clearly a disk as the seeing steadied at 92x. The colour was obviously off-white, more towards the green than blue I felt.
I attempted to go to 171x but the seeing would not help me out.

That makes all of the plants visual for me now

Cheers.

Darren.
