Sun 5th January

Managed a bit of Solar this morning. There are some nice proms. I have enough data for some animations and hopefully will have a link to Astrobin once I have processed them. Was gusting at 15kmh from NW, not ideal but my first images in a month. The first image is the Prom that is actually on the SE of the Sun. The 2nd and 3rd are of the Prom on the NW of the Sun. The overlay gives some idea of the scale.
Thanks for looking

Superb details Peter. Seeing must have been good.
I like the scales with Jup and Earth too.

Thanks very much Marc,

I was happy to get some Sun imaging in after a month. I rated the seeing at 3 from 5 because the wind gusts were really starting to cause me some grief even with 500images. Being on an exposed balcony 4 floors up makes it difficult.

The distances and scales are a great addition that for me and no doubt give some meaning and scale to what is going on to all who view. Sounds funny when as part of BOSS I once discovered Supernova in Galaxies millions of light years away but never really "saw" the overall scale of things.
That is probably why I have fallen right in for Solar. It is so dynamic, so close and and so easy to get an idea of the scale.

Thanks Gerard,

Took me a while to get the brain and notes in sync with imaging again after a month. So glad I documented everything all you solar guys out there gave me as valued advice!
