Focus help

Hi all

I have a Nikon D200 and I am trying to get the hang of focusing on stars without live view any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated. My eyes are not very good for this job. Is there some kind of gadget that can be attached to the Viewfinder that can magnify the view

Do away with the eyepiece for fine focusing.

Download 5-10 sec frames to PC for viewing on a big screen and then adjust your focus and re-shoot, keep repeating until you have it. Will take a while to get use to but you will achieve a better result. Remember this is how CCD guys do it, they dont have a viewfinder.

The above, plus look into Bahtinov masks to assist your eyeballing on the screen.

Combine the bahtinov mask with the bahtinov grabber and you will really nail it.
