Overdose: This is the story of the greatest financial crisis we will ever see... The one that is on its way.

As an Economist, in my opinion,
the surest way to accurately predict that there will be another world financial crisis is to tell the world that there will be a new world financial crisis.

Too many "investors" are trying to conjure up "paper" profits by short term investment holdings aimed at selling for more than purchased. But there has to be someone else willing to buy (usually with a similar intention).

This leads to people paying more for it than a security is worth in "true" value. (asset backing)

This is pyramid building.

And they all collapse some day!

Rumours of a new GFC will therefore panic the investor and hasten a sell off to minimise loss.

Hi Al. It seems to me that an awful lot of people are in denial, usually those who have the most debt and want the free ride to continue forever.

You surely don't deny people the right to try to provide themselves with a more generous retirement income. There are too many who, for whatever reason, don't do anything as far as investments and providing for their retirements go. And then they find themselves in the position where they are forced to live their retirements on frugal pensions and superfund incomes.

I applaud people who invest, especially in property. So does the government, - otherwise they would have to provide the housing that is currently provided by investors. There are many on this forum who rent accomodation who should also be thankful that there is accomodation to rent. Where would they live if not for 'investors'?

Unfortunately, investing means borrowing. It's not for everyone, - but it is for some. And far too often, those people get derided as 'free-riders' by others who choose not to do the same
