Is it just me or has anybody else been struggling to see any stars lately from all the clouds? I'm in Sydney and it seems like weeks since I had a good night time view. Its quite frustrating
It's summer. Relax. The days are long and the night's short; and even if it is clear there is heat haze. Let it get it out of it's system, let the lawns recover (just not too much) and hope for a nice clear autumn. As Steffen said, the stars are still there. After 40 years I've realised that astronomy isn't a sprint.

Yep...for at least 6 weeks I have had basically zero chance of seeing anything for any decent length of time here in Shellharbour...the only time I can remember the sky being good was at 2:30am one night when I was up watching the Wallabies play Ireland and thought I might pop outside...awesome, except I then had to watch the second half of the rugby and then it was too late to observe! I saw two stars last night...
Seems like forever since I've been able to get any imaging done. Past two times I've seen a break in the weather I've had a hardware failure. Hopefully with my new Moonlite focuser on the way that's the last of those for a while and I'll be able to take advantage of the next clear run.
As for the seasons, I'm kind of out of luck here. Where I am as soon as it starts getting cooler the fog sets in... pretty much every winter night we have thick fog, then as it heats up the rains come in.
I recently moved to Tassie, so was expecting clouds (and short nights). But the entire East Coast seems to be haunted this summer. I guess we just have to grab every opportunity we get - sleep be damned!
