Adjusting TSA120 focuser

Hi,

the focuser on my TSA120 has developed significant slop. I would like to adjust the 3 grub screws on the top of the focuser to stop the wobble. These screws however, are covered in a clear glue (Nail polish???). Does anyone know of a safe solvent that will clean it off without damaging the paintwork?

From memory I think I ended up having to use acetone, but I applied it sparingly with a q-tip, just enough to soften the glue so that I could get a toothpick through to the hex screws. I didn't bother trying to remove all of the glue. You could try isopropyl first.

I think that is what Lewis did as well. If spilt on the paintwork, you need to use water (preferably warm/hot ) to wash the acetone away. Acetone is soluble in water but be careful not to rub too hard any area of paint that has been contaminated while washing it down.

Thanks guys,

I ended up using a scalpel to lift the tuff off the grub screws, then used a fine syringe to put drops of acetone into the head. Kept doing this so it just overflowed the screw. Waited until the "varnish" softened and then was able to get them to move. Adjusted the focuser fine, however may hace to replace the screws as I had to use a bit of force to free them and may have partialluy stripped the hex......

All OK for now though...
