Elephant Tripod (by Gerd Neumann Astronomy)

After having my Synta tripod shift on me a couple of times during imaging sessions, I went looking for a replacement and came across the Elephant Tripod from Gerd Neumann/Astronomik. I'd never heard mention of it previously but decided to give it a go anyway, having enjoyed their products and service in the past.

Although it requires a custom flange (machined and supplied by Gerd also) to accept my mount, I'm impressed by it so far. Assembly is simple and with a rated capacity of 350kg, it feels sturdier than the one I replaced. Like Gerd's other products, the build quality does not disappoint.

Looking forward to doing a full write-up in the near future after I receive the flange and take it for a proper spin.
