Lens for nightshots canon 700D?

hello,

I plan on using a Canon 700D on a polarie; however, I am not familiar with the lenses for canon cameras.

Would anyone recommend a wide-ish, fast lens for the canon 700D suitable for use when on a polarie?

do all of the fixed focal length canon lenses come with ED glass? i assume so but never sure...Nikon add that to their lens names mostly so it is easy to tell.

thanks for any advice.

Xtra wide tokina 11-16/2.8, you can't go wrong with canon primes 28/1.8, 50/1.8, 85/1.8 to name a few..price goes up from there

ok, good to know. the guy in the camera store suggested most hd ED glass... looks like he was wrong, then.

thanks for the pointers, dannat.
I would not have looked at the Tokina, although we have the tokina 12-24 for the Nikon. I will have a look at the tokina, 28/1.8 and 50/1.8, i think.

cheers.

just wondering, how can you tell if the lens is designed for the APS-C sensors and not full-frame?

or does canon not make lenses specifically for the cameras with those sensors?

EDIT: I would assume the live view is generated from what falls on the sensor so it probably does not matter. just thinking that the view through the viewfinder may be compromised.

With Canon the EF lenses can be used on both size sensors, the EF-S ones can only be used on APS-C sized sensors, ie: all except 1D, 5D and 6D.

Other makes (eg Sigma, Tokina etc) use a code in their lense name to indicate if it is compatible with full frame or not, if you check their websites it will usually have that info.

which is about $130-$200
