Can't load raw files on my mac

I took some shots of the Orion Nebula last night in raw and now I can't load them into iPhoto on my Mac, it says the file is not recognised.

This is the first time I have used the new Sony A7s

Do I have to purchase a program to convert them.

Have you looked at all?

If it's a new Sony, then it will have come with the required software, Capture One Express is available to download, as well as the proprietary Sony software, Sony Data Converter, for Mac.

The latest Adobe Camera Raw will also convert them, but it needs LightRoom 5 or CS6.

Might depend on his "other" software though Peter. I know the latest stuff only seems to work with the equally later or latest Adobe products, LR5 or CS6 for example.

Don't know if the bog standard Adobe Camera Raw will work stand alone?

Irrespective, anything required will be able to be downloaded from Sony, just needs to look.

You can try the Adobe DNG converter? Not sure if DNG files are supported by iPhoto though...
