NGC346 Nebula in the SMC

Hi Guys

NGC346 in NB. This Nebula has a huge dynamic range, the young central star forming region is very bright, but the surrounding Nebula is quite dim in comparison, so it was a challenge to process.

Big here.

Taken on an RCOS 10" RC Scope at f9, SBIG STXL6303E Camera and PME mount at itelescopes Siding Spring Observatory.
Processed with CCDstack, Star Tools and Photoshop. 43 hrs Total exposure time.
Ha, SII,Ha,OIII. Mapped as Lum, yellow, red, Blue

Ha 27hrs, 40min subs bin1. SII 10hrs 40min subs bin2, OIII 15hrs 40min subs bin2.

That is exceedingly deep, Fred. Very faint stuff captured there. Remarkable.

Remarkable Fred, looks ethereal- delicate and diaphanous.
Great job on controlling the dynamic range too.

Thanks Dave, lots of Ha in the middle too, but strong OIII drowned it out.

Very cool, Fred. Andy said it well. You've got a lovely floaty, dreamy thing going on there.

Cheers,
Rick.

Nice image Fred. It can be a bit unphotogenic this one and I think you've done a great job getting so much detail and a nice zoomed in look.

Greg.

This is one of the largest scale images I have seen of this object. It does tend to look fairly non descript normally but you have captured a lot of interesting detail Fred. The core presents quite well.

Nicely done Fred. You've picked up a lot more of the surrounding Ha than I've ever been able to achieve with this object.

Cheers

Steve
