Wasp

Looks like a wasp. I like the way it grasps onto the leaf with legs outstretched.

When I'm out in the forests photographing fungi I come across all manner of insects on the forest floor. That or their chrysalis', both tenanted and untenanted.
Here is a few from last season.

Trev

PS - Some really great photos in this months comp. So many deserve to win!

My previous entry in this topic. Some eggs I found attached to an old shoelace.

Came across a couple of (hopefully) Banded Sugar Ants doing a bit of house keeping. Of course there were lots more but these girls were what I captured.

Kind of confused here, are people posting pictures here by accident? Some of the ones here are better than in the actual competition thread

Lots of Pics

Some great pics posted. So I thought I,d post a collage of various insects taken while often out shooting something else.Nik its not really about winning here I,d say most pics are what are our favourites which may of course not be the most technical or what others like. For me its just a break from the grind of work and being able to share pics with others with similar interests.
Cheers Derek.

Hi Nik, the monthly competition encourages you to get out and submit somthing you took this month. Although you are not prohibited from submitting an older pic, I'd guess some of these fantastic pics here in this comment thread are from a while ago, hence not being entered in the comp.

One thing is clear, I really need to get a macro lens!

Trawling through my back catalogue I came across this guy, or more likely, gal: A Gasteruptiid Wasp. Taken some time ago with an iPhone 5.

Incoming!
This pic is a couple of years old, it looked quite funny when 10,000,000 of these guys swarmed over the office building one day.
