Arrgghh !!!!

Looks like I've fried my motor board in the mount... My attempt at an EQDirect cable was not very successful and nothing works now.
Mount powers up, red light etc, but comes up with the message 'No response from both axis's'

Anyone know where I can get a replacement or have it fixed. I don't think there is much support over here. Synscan Pro EQ6
Visual check shows no damage on the board but there was a bit of a nasty sounding noise when I think it happened. I was hoping there wasa couple of fuse links or something but can't find anything.

Out of action, should have just stuck to the hand control, it was all working so well.
And of course now the sky is clear ...

Thanks Ken,
Sent an email, wait and see now.
Not sure how I got it wrong, have to dissect a few things to find out.

OK, so no local suppliers over here in GodZone. They are checking to import but I've seen their prices and it ain't pretty.
Bintel have one and another coming but haven't given me a price .... yet ..
Fingers crossed it ain't horrendous. There goes my planned Cooled ASI 1600 MC for a while ... quite a while I suspect.

Hi

There is a company in Melbourne called Module Repair Service.

Consider contacting them, even if only to ask if they know of a similar company in New Zealand.

I have dealt with them a couple of times and they are pretty good.

Good luck

Philip

Thanks guys, local supplier is bringing one in for me. Price is ...... painful but I need this going.

Tasco Au replied directing me to the local supplier ( I suspect they supply to him so didn't want to hurt his business )

Such is life, I will not 'cowboy' my wiring next time and muck it up.

I suppose it comes with clouds ...

That's good news.
I think the clouds fell out of your package as it left Sydney .

I think our Customs & Immigration has them blacklisted blocked at Border Control in Australia. It will be on TV in a few months, cloud smuggling ring busted, arrests in Australia and NZ, International criminal group facing life in jail for contraband clouds.

Or Ag & Fish stopped them from possibly infecting local clouds, they're even worse than C&I.

Interesting, my mount was always a bit cranky about starting up, comms errors to the motors and required a bit of patience to get going sometimes. I put it down to old connectors to the hand control etc playing up as it always got going eventually. I knew when it worked because there would be a little clunk noise as a motor moved or something.

But a new board and it starts up instantly with no clunking noise and the tracking and guiding is much better with no erratic jumps that I used to occasionally get. Just wondering whether the old board had some problems from the past haunting it. I got over 2 hours of very accurate guiding the night before last. (NGC 2264 - but it needs a lot more time on it ).
So something good comes from what looked to be a bit of a disaster at the time.
