Leo triplet

Good seeing last night at Jimboomba, QLD. I was thrilled to see the Leo triplet of galaxies. Probably got the most detailed view of Orion Nebula yet with my 10" Dob and new baader Hyperion 10mm.

Hi Steve .
I too just love the thrill of finding them near Sydney in my 10" sct or 12" dob.
Leo's coming around early morning, so I must give this a go out at my property in Castelreagh, in between all those wonderful neglected binaries!!

Cheers bigjoe.

Congrats on the observations and the new eyepiece. Looked back at my observations from 2014 with an 8" Dob in my backyard 6km south of Brisbane central and sadly didn't see much in the light pollution other than a few smudges of light (M65, M66), mostly with averted vision, and didn't manage to record an observation of NGC3628. What were you getting from Jimboomba? I do remember the joy in just finding these galaxies!

M65 & 66 feint but can tell one is more edge on than the other. NGC3628 much fainter and averted vision needed, couldn't see dust lane 'hamburger'

NGC 3628 is my favourite galaxy of the triplet. Checked them out last night from very dark skies, and 3628 was showing a lot of fine detail and mottling along it's dust band.
