Planetary image acquisition with ASI120 camera

Hi, could someone please point me at beginner FireCapture tutorials on the web?

I've just received my ASI cam in the mail and am very eager to use it but mastering the software comes first..

Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

Seb,

I went through the same process last week - I think simply leave the gamma at 50 and play between gain and exposure to manipulate the FPS figure.

The biggest issue I had was getting my motorised filter wheel to work - eventually found the ASCOM drivers etc and got it working so now up and running - don't think you will have many issue driving the program.

What have you been using to acquire your images so far?

Hi
I'm using sharp cap. It's little simpler than fire capture and is fully compatible with ASI120 too

Planets seem to work at about 30 fps to capture those fleeting still moments. There are drop down menu choices at the file name box and you can go to the right side panel to the settings and add your own versions and options.
I haven't figured out the guiding\imaging system yet but I'm still playing with it.

I recently got a QHY5L-II, which apparently has the same sensor, and I can't get 30fps out of it. Beginning to wonder if I bought the wrong cam...would anyone mind sharing the specs of their machines?...mostly CPU, speed and storage (ssd/HDD)

HI
I had the same issue with FPS
On my old XP window laptop, I was getting 5-10fps - dual core
On a I5 laptop (quad core) I can now get upto 30FPS, but I reduced the resolution to something like 400x400
I think FPS depend on the CPU and resolution used, it's not the camera
I hope that helps
