Playing Around

Wasn't meant to be any good last night for Astro but before the clouds rolled in things didn't seem too bad. Quickly grabbed a rig from inside and set up with a newly acquired SW 150/750mm Newt on my old EQ5 mount.

Took a shot Afocal through a 3mm eyepiece using a Canon Powershot S95. These compact cameras are tiny and very light so it makes them ideal for shooting this way. Just as the clouds were approaching I switched to the Canon 550d with a 5x PM and shot Io about to be occulted by Jupiter.

For a spontaneous session and a quick grab of gear the results are quite commendable.
