Here's a few pics of the moon I shot Saturday and Sunday around 19:00 both nights. The seeing was superb on Saturday and still pretty good Sunday. The best I've had in years where I am. H0ughy did the full disc at the same time on the night so that was a good reference. Shot with the CN-212 and ASI 120MM with Firecapture on G11. Panles are 6'x4.8' @ 0.28" per pixel.
Got some tips from Dennis and processed that in AS3 with the default settings then did a bit of noise reduction and levels in PS. I did the mosaic in Registar.
Wow Marc, gives me a real "spaceship about to land" feeling or even just looking out the port hole window and taking it all in. Stunning, detailed and sharp as, Bravo! The 2nd one with the crater Gassendi to mid left of Mare Humorum (left of image) and then the long elongated crater Schiller towards top right of the image is superb.
Yes these made me go and get my Moon maps out and blow the dust off them! Mr Google says Gassendi is named for the French (hmmm Marc... Ze-Froginnator) Philosopher, Scientist and Mathematician Pierre Gassendi, the crater is 110km wide and 1.9km deep. Schiller is named for the Monk Julius Schiller and is 179km long, 71km wide and 3.9km deep.
I kind of like the bright parts in #1 because of the variation in contrast and textures. I'll probably end up reprocessing those panels as I learn more. Meanwhile I'll burn the SER files on a bluray as it's good data so I can keep them for my future self when I know what I'm doing.
