What FF Canon is best for astro shots?

Hi guys,

What is the best FF Canon DSLR to use?

I already have smaller chip cameras but want to upgrade to FF.

Some say the 6D is best others the 6DMKII. What do you think?

If money is no object, the 5D MkIV...

But it’s still going to be noisier than a banshee in this heat!

Agree, but the 6d (even the original one) is a nice FF camera. I use it and it really has low noise.

When you really want to have low noise, the best DSLR is the Sony A7sMk2. It is not as expensive as the Canon 5Mk4, even when you add to it the price of a Metabones Canon EF adapter.

Yeah the 6D is a solid performer.

The Sony’s suffer from star eater....wouldn’t recommend them unless/until Sony fox it.

If you really want Canon then the original 6D is a winner. Avoid the 6D Mk2, it's actually worse (for astro) and more expensive.

If you're interested in a Sony sensor and want to avoid 'star eater' issues then check out the Nikon D620, D750 and Pentax K1. The K1 is a superb camera from what I've seen at a very good price point.

Cheers,
Cam
