Shimming an EQ6

About to tear down my eq6 for a service as its been sitting idle for a couple years and doesnt quite feel right in the bearing department at the moment.

Since she will be fully dismantled, I plan on taking the opportunity to further tune the performance of the mount beyond the belt mod it currently has done to it.

Now I currently have a not insignificant quantity of stainless and brass shim sheeting and i was wondering if anyone has tested out using this material to shim the RA and DEC worm gears into alignment rather than using delrin/teflon sheeting?
