How's correctly use focus lock

Hi all just got a nice delivery today a Celestron cpc 800 edge Hd and its so much bigger then I thought it would be lol! Anyway my question is what is the correct way to focus lock? What does it achieve? And do I lock each time I move my scope in the sky? Cheers p.s here's my new baby!

Welcome to Ice in Space Nathan!

The focus lock is to prevent mirror flop when imaging. I haven't found a good use for them visually. My suggestion is to leave them unlocked - they are the two knobs on the rear that aren't the focuser. If you tighten them, don't move the main focuser very far. To loosen them, just unscrew them a couple of turns.
